The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Mass Propers:
Saint Tarcisius, Martyr:
Double of I Class with common Octave, White:

Introit Apoc. 12: 1

Signum magnum appáruit in cælo: múlier amícta sole, et luna sub pédibus ejus, et in cápite ejus coróna stellárum duódecim.

And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

Ps. 97: 1

Cantáte Dómino cánticum novum:  quia mirabília fecit. Ps. 97: 1.  O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things.

The Collect

Almighty and everlasting God, who hast taken up into heavenly glory both the body and soul of the Mother of thy Son, the immaculate Virgin Mary: grant, we beseech thee; that we may in such wise set our affections on things above; that we may finally attain unto fellowship with her in glory.  Through the same Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.

The Epistle

Judith 13:22-25; 15:10

[22] And they all adored the Lord, and said to her: The Lord hath blessed thee by his power, because by thee he hath brought our enemies to nought. [23] And Ozias the prince of the people of Israel, said to her: Blessed art thou, O daughter, by the Lord the most high God, above all women upon the earth. [24] Blessed be the Lord who made heaven and earth, who hath directed thee to the cutting off the head of the prince of our enemies. [25] Because he hath so magnified thy name this day, that thy praise shall not depart out of the mouth of men who shall be mindful of the power of the Lord for ever, for that thou hast not spared thy life, by reason of the distress and tribulation of thy people, but hast prevented our ruin in the presence of our God.

[10] And when she was come out to him, they all blessed her with one voice, saying: Thou art the glory of Jerusalem, thou art the joy of Israel, thou art the honour of our people:

The Gradual and Alleluia

Audi, fília, et vide, et inclína aurem tuam: et concupíscet Rex pulchritúdinem tuam

Hearken, O daughter, consider, and incline thine ear; so shall the King have pleasure in thy beauty;

V.  Tota decóra ingréditur fília regis, textúræ áureæ sunt amíctus ejus.

V.  All glorious is the daughter of the king as she doth enter; her raiment is threaded with spun gold.

Allelúja, allelúja.  V.  Assúmpta est María in cælum:  gaudet exércitus Angelórum.  Allelúja.

Alleluia, alleluia.  V.  Mary is taken up into heaven, the company of the Angels is joyful.  Alleluia.

The Gospel

Luke 1: 41-50

[41] And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: [42] And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. [43] And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? [44] For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. [45] And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord.

[46] And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord. [47] And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. [48] Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. [49] Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name. [50] And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him.

The Offertory

Gen. 3: 15
